Alanya Fashion Week: Four elements uniting fashion, art, and people

Alanya Fashion Week "Four Elements" 2026 is an international fashion project aimed at developing the region's fashion industry, supporting local designers, and creating a space for professional and cultural interaction.

Fashion is one of the most dynamic sectors of the modern creative economy. It constantly changes under the influence of new trends, consumer behavior, cultural processes, and global shifts. Therefore, the development of the fashion industry is impossible without a space where designers, models, stylists, makeup artists, buyers, media representatives, and businesses can meet, exchange experience, and create new professional connections.

Alanya Fashion Week was conceived precisely as such a platform.

The project brings together representatives from different countries and professional fields, creating opportunities for presenting new collections, international collaboration, and the development of the regional fashion industry.

At the same time, the main idea of the project goes beyond the runway show itself.

Alanya Fashion Week strives to present Alanya not only as a popular tourist destination but also as a city open to art, aesthetics, contemporary fashion, and international creative initiatives.

ALANYA AS A NEW FASHION DESTINATION

Traditionally, Alanya is perceived primarily as a tourist city. However, the region's potential is significantly broader.

Here, cultural heritage, natural beauty, and contemporary aesthetics intersect. Sea and mountains, bright sun and open horizons, traditions and modern lifestyle form a unique atmosphere that can become a source of inspiration for designers and creative industry representatives.

Fashion is not just clothing, but a way of expressing a lifestyle.

Alanya, with its character, aesthetics, and distinctive cultural environment, offers a natural space for the birth of new ideas, silhouettes, and creative concepts.

That is why Alanya Fashion Week strives to position the city not only as a tourist destination but also as a promising center of aesthetics, art, and contemporary fashion.

INTERNATIONAL PLATFORM

The concept of Alanya Fashion Week is built around the idea of professional and cultural exchange.

The project brings together designers and buyers from different countries, providing participants with opportunities for:

  • presenting new collections;

  • developing international professional connections;

  • finding new partners and markets;

  • exchanging experience between industry representatives;

  • supporting the growth of the regional fashion sector.

Thus, Fashion Week becomes not just a series of runway shows but a professional platform connecting the creative and commercial sides of the fashion industry.

FOUR ELEMENTS AS THE LANGUAGE OF FASHION

The creative concept of Alanya Fashion Week is based on four classical elements:

AIR · EARTH · FIRE · WATER

Each of them represents a distinct approach to design and becomes a source of inspiration for creating unique collections.

Air is associated with lightness and movement, earth — with nature, stability, and form, fire — with energy and expressiveness, and water — with plasticity, transformation, and continuous motion.

The "Four Elements" concept allows designers to interpret familiar elements through their own artistic language.

At the same time, the project is focused not only on experimental runway collections but also on creating commercially viable products: evening gowns, urban fashion, wedding collections, prêt-à-porter, and children's clothing.

Thus, the four elements become not just a visual theme of Fashion Week but a unifying principle that allows art, design, and the practical value of contemporary fashion to come together.

DESIGNERS

ALICE MUSE

One of the participants of Alanya Fashion Week will be Alice Muse — the youngest designer of the project and one of the notable young representatives of the fashion scene in Yekaterinburg.

Alice founded her own brand at the age of 13. Today, she has more than ten collections and serious training in the visual arts.

Her work has already been presented at international and Russian fashion venues, including Milan Fashion Week, Dubai Fashion Show, and U'Fashion, as well as at shows in Belarus, Sochi, Tyumen, and Sakhalin.

A special place in the designer's career is occupied by her participation in Moscow Fashion Week, where the brand was included among the five best children's brands in the country.

Alice Muse is a regular participant of Yekaterinburg Fashion Week, a Grand Prix winner, a laureate of first and second degree competitions, and a winner of numerous international competitions in design and fashion.

Now her aesthetics will become part of the international project Alanya Fashion Week "Four Elements."

ALIYA ŞAKIROVA — AY KHANYM

Among the participants of Fashion Week Alanya is Aliya Şakirova, designer and founder of the Muslim clothing brand Ay Khanym.

The brand name translates as "Moon Lady" — and this figurative concept is reflected in the collections themselves.

Ay Khanym dresses, suits, and capes combine the traditions of Tatar modesty with the aesthetics of contemporary high fashion.

The brand is based on the idea of clothing as a form of self-expression: the restraint of the silhouette does not exclude expressiveness, and traditional aesthetics become part of the modern fashion language.

On the runway of Fashion Week Alanya, the brand will present its own interpretation of contemporary modest fashion.

MARGAN — "GOLD OF THE EARTH"

Cornelia Margan is an artist and designer for whom fabric becomes not just a material but a kind of canvas.

In her works, painting, costume, and ancient symbols merge into a single artistic image.

The collection "Gold of the Earth" addresses themes of depth, value, and cultural heritage.

It is a dialogue between past and present, translated into the language of contemporary fashion.

Within the Four Elements concept, the collection is especially organically connected with the element of Earth — as a symbol of memory, roots, and that which preserves the traces of human history.

GAZIZA OZDOGAN — GAZIZA TRENDS

Gaziza Ozdogan is a stylist and conceptual fashion designer working at the intersection of authenticity, meaning, and the reinterpretation of familiar materials.

Her recognizable style is formed through upcycling techniques and a new interpretation of denim.

At Fashion Week Alanya, Gaziza will present the collection "Element: Earth" by the brand Gaziza Trends.

In the collection's concept, Earth becomes a symbol of memory that is preserved layer by layer: the past does not disappear but becomes the foundation for the new.

Therefore, upcycling here acts not only as a design technique but also as a philosophical metaphor — the idea of the material's rebirth and the endless natural cycle.

By education, Gaziza is a clothing technologist and financier. She has 15 years of experience as a personal stylist and image consultant, as well as international certification in Milan.

Her professional experience includes working as a designer at a manufacturing facility in Istanbul, creating her own children's fashion brand presented at designer venues in Istanbul, and participating in fashion shows and designer competitions in Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan.

EMİNE SULTAN

Emine Sultan is a fashion house with nearly 40 years of history connecting different regions of Turkey — from Eskişehir to Alanya.

Over decades of work, the brand has developed its own understanding of tailoring, design, and an individual approach to the client, combining boutique aesthetics with couture craftsmanship.

Today, this experience continues to develop in Alanya.

Emine Sultan works with both ready-made designer solutions and fully individual tailoring. The brand's main principle is that clothing should correspond not only to a person's measurements but also to their character.

For Emine Sultan, the main measure of quality is not a measuring tape but the satisfaction of the woman wearing the dress created for her.

The brand also acts as the official sponsor of Fashion Week Alanya.

LILIA LUGUMANOVA — "AMRITA"

Lilia Lugumanova came to design through her own creative story.

As a child, she created outfits for dolls from pieces of fabric, and later began sewing clothes for herself and her children. This is how a personal world gradually formed, combining image, color, and style.

For many years, business and everyday responsibilities took center stage, while creative impulses receded into the background.

However, over time, when the children grew up and professional life became more stable, creativity once again took an important place.

Lilia has a particular love for noble textures — velvet, lace, and organza. These materials allow her to work with themes of femininity, elegance, and expressiveness.

This is how the collection "Amrita" came about, originally created as preparation for her own Fashion Show but gradually turning into an independent artistic project.

The name "Amrita" is associated with ideas of pleasure and immortality. In the collection, this concept is revealed through images designed to emphasize individuality, confidence, and a sense of one's own beauty.

SEZGIN ÇÜRÜK — ROWIR JEANS

Among the participants of the project is Sezgin Çürük, designer and founder of the brand Rowir Jeans, with 25 years of professional experience.

The brand's collections are presented in Europe, Russia, Asia, and the Middle East. Rowir Jeans has received particular recognition in the markets of Germany, Bulgaria, and Italy; the brand is also well known to the Russian audience.

Within Alanya Fashion Week, Sezgin Çürük will present a collection reflecting the recognizable aesthetics of Rowir Jeans.

The brand's history is an example of how accumulated professional experience can transform into a modern international fashion language.

NIYAZ HAJIMAGHSOODY — VISUAL & TEXTILE ARTIST

Niyaz Hajimaghsoody works at the border of visual art, design, and fashion.

With a background in industrial design, she has developed her own artistic language combining elements of realism, surrealism, and symbolism.

Nature occupies a central place in her work.

Birds, flowers, organic forms, and the fragile beauty of the surrounding world become part of the artist's visual language.

She transfers these images onto silk, fabrics, and garments, turning them into unique artistic surfaces.

Hand painting allows Niyaz to transfer the freedom of painting directly into the space of fashion. Color, movement, texture, and form combine in works that can not only be viewed but also worn.

At Fashion Week Alanya, her work becomes a meeting point of visual art, textiles, and fashion — a space where painting acquires a new, wearable form.

MODELS

KAĞAN BİROL

Turkish professional model and actor Kağan Birol will join the project as one of the models of Alanya Fashion Week.

His modeling career began in 2021 with participation in the Best Model of Türkiye competition and projects by the Fame Model Turkey organization.

Kağan has collaborated with brands such as İmza Giyim, Rowır Giyim, Roberto Milano, and İlayda Emir, and today he is the face of the Roberto Milano brand.

In addition to his modeling career, he has experience in music videos, advertising projects, television series, and other screen productions.

His projects include "Daha 17," "Yanlış Profil," "Eski Sevgili," and "Yeni Arkadaş," as well as advertising campaigns including Turkish Airlines.

Kağan's international experience includes participation in fashion shoots and publications in Italian magazines Best Life and Stefano, as well as publications in Mexico and the USA.

POLINA KIPKAEVA

Model Polina Kipkaeva joined the project after the final of the "Best Young Model" competition, which took place on August 1 with the support of Yekaterinburg Fashion Week.

Alanya Fashion Week acted as a partner of the competition.

The organizers noticed Polina due to her grace, potential, and desire to develop in the modeling industry.

Now the next step for the young model will be the professional runway of Alanya Fashion Week.

SILA YEZDA AKPINAR

Among the models of the project is Sıla Yezda Akpınar, who will present designers' collections on the runway of Alanya Fashion Week.

Her participation combines the professional work of a model with the overall aesthetics of the project, where clothing, movement, and stage space become part of a single visual image.

ANNA PREOBRAZHENSKAYA

Anna Preobrazhenskaya will also join the team of models of Alanya Fashion Week.

Her professional experience includes participation in fashion shows in various cities of Turkey and work in advertising campaigns.

Her energy and stage expressiveness will become part of the project's visual image.

BEAUTY TEAM

MEHRI ELIF TANEM

Internationally renowned makeup artist and hair stylist Mehri Elif Tanem will join the beauty team of Alanya Fashion Week.

The specialist works on looks for events, weddings, photo shoots, and fashion projects, combining the aesthetics of Paris Luxury Beauty with contemporary celebrity style.

Among Mehri's professional projects is participation in the international project "Star Stylist 3," as well as creating premium beauty content and fashion looks.

ANNA KREMNEVA

Anna Kremneva will work on creating beauty looks for key shows and shoots — a beauty expert with 14 years of experience in the industry.

Her professional path began in PR and advertising, where she worked on the image of executives of major companies. Later, Anna received an international diploma in makeup and hair styling and focused on working directly on set and in live production format.

Her specialization includes preparing show ballets and dance companies, organizing portfolio shoots for modeling agencies, and beauty support for executives and top managers of major companies.

Among the companies she has worked with are MTS, Sberbank, Russian Railways, Boyard, Stalepromyshlennaya Company, and UGMK.

Anna has also worked on looks for well-known Russian artists, including Ivan Urgant, Sergey Svetlakov, Irina Pegova, and Monetochka.

Her professional geography continues to expand: last year the specialist conducted a series of shoots in the UAE, and now she is preparing to work in Turkey.

EBRU KENGER

Ebru Kenger is a makeup artist and creative artist with nearly 20 years of experience in the cosmetics and beauty industry.

She combines professional expertise in makeup with artistic vision and an interest in creative experimentation.

Throughout her career, Ebru has participated in numerous projects in fashion, beauty, and creative industries, including working as Makeup Director at fashion shows.

For her, makeup is not a separate element of the look but part of the fashion concept, character, and visual narrative.

Today Ebru continues to work as an independent creative artist, bringing her own aesthetic language to each project.

HÜSEYİN KAVAL

The project's beauty team also includes Hüseyin Kaval — a professional hairdresser, master, and manager with 27 years of experience.

Since 2004, he has owned and managed his own salon in Mahmutlar, continuing his professional activity in the field of hairdressing.

Over the years, Hüseyin Kaval has gained experience not only in individual client service but also in team management, staff coordination, organization of work processes, and maintaining service quality.

He follows the development of modern hair trends and constantly improves his professional skills.

Working with Alanya's international audience has also shaped his multilingual professional communication: Hüseyin works with clients in Turkish, Russian, and English.

DIRECTION AND PRODUCTION

ANNA PETUKHOVA

The director-producer of Alanya Fashion Week 2026 is Anna Petukhova — a runway coaching specialist, director, producer, and educator with more than 20 years of experience in the industry.

Her proprietary methodology combines runway technique, psychology, and acting skills.

Anna works with participants of different ages, helping them develop confidence, stage expressiveness, and professional skills.

Her career includes more than 1,000 students, among whom are winners of national competitions, as well as collaboration with brands, media, and modeling schools.

As a director-producer, she worked with Yekaterinburg Fashion Week for ten years and also participated in creating children's Fashion Weeks in Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Sochi.

Her portfolio includes productions for competitions "Miss Yekaterinburg," "Little Miss Russia," "Mrs. Yekaterinburg," as well as projects "Little Prince and Princess," "Young Top Model," and "Mini Miss Yekaterinburg."

ONLINE STUDIO

A separate part of Alanya Fashion Week will be the online studio, headed by Elmira, a live broadcasting specialist.

Her professional team has more than 100,000 live broadcasts and many years of experience in television and event production.

Over the years, Elmira has worked on live broadcasts of sports events, business forums, and conferences, served as editor-in-chief of the "Hockey Studio" on regional television, and participated in creating studio coverage for the Russian Athletics Championship.

For four years, her team has been the general partner for organizing broadcasts of the Tretyak Cup, and for three seasons has been the general partner for live broadcasts of the Sinara football club.

During Alanya Fashion Week, the online studio will become a space for interviews with designers, models, partners, and sponsors of the project.

Broadcasts will be available on YouTube and VK.

ART AS PART OF THE FASHION PROJECT

Alanya Fashion Week goes beyond the traditional fashion industry, uniting it with other areas of art.

Yusuf Vladislav Chernyavsky is an artist and member of the Electoral Art Committee of the Yeni Alanyalılar platform.

Katerina Rihart Yakın is also associated with the project — an art historian and artist, founder of the international non-profit art project A-GALLERY and the international non-profit art exhibition SSAW SEASONS. She is also a member of the Electoral Art Committee of the Yeni Alanyalılar platform.

Such interaction emphasizes one of the key ideas of Fashion Week: fashion does not exist in isolation but is at the intersection of art, culture, media, and society.

PARTNERS AND SPONSORS

It is impossible to imagine the development of a large-scale project without partners who share its vision.

GOLDEN EYE JEWELLERY

Golden Eye Jewellery is a jewelry company founded in Alanya in 1999.

The company specializes in gold, diamond, and precious stone jewelry, combining premium aesthetics with a client-oriented approach.

Golden Eye Jewellery acts as the general sponsor of Fashion Week Alanya "Four Elements" 2026.

SUNPRIME C-LOUNGE HOTEL

The general sponsor of the project is also Sunprime C-Lounge Hotel — a five-star Wellness & Spa Hotel in Alanya, opened in 2015.

The hotel operates within the Sunprime concept, inspired by the Scandinavian approach to tourism and focused on tranquility, comfort, service quality, wellness, and individual attention to guests.

The collaboration with Sunprime C-Lounge Hotel reflects the project's desire to connect fashion, art, tourism, and culture on one international platform.

OGENUS PROPERTY

Among the partners of Fashion Week Alanya is Ogenus Property, an international real estate agency operating on the southern coast of Turkey.

The company's team provides services in nine languages: Russian, English, German, Polish, Uzbek, Ukrainian, Swedish, Persian, and Turkish.

The company supports clients at various stages of working with real estate — from property selection and legal procedures to residence permit and citizenship application matters.

In the context of Four Elements, Ogenus Property symbolically represents the connection between people and place: if the four elements become the foundation of Fashion Week's artistic concept, then the land of Alanya becomes a space for life, investment, and new opportunities.

ALANYA ALİ ÖZKINAÇI SPORTS CLUB

The sports partner of the project is Alanya Ali Özkınacı Spor Kulübü, which since 2016 has been developing children's and youth sports in Alanya.

The club develops basketball and volleyball directions, uniting children and teenagers from 6 to 18 years old.

Under the leadership of president and head coach Hasan Uzun, the club develops not only sports skills but also confidence, discipline, teamwork, and the desire to achieve goals.

Within the Fashion Show, athletes of the basketball team will participate in the event, where designers' collections will be presented on the runway.

THE RUSSIAN SHORE

The information partner of the project is "Russian Shore" magazine, published since 2020 in Russian, English, and Turkish.

The publication's circulation is 10,000 copies, and its main audience is concentrated on the Mediterranean coast of Turkey.

The magazine covers travel, fashion, culture, and business topics and develops simultaneously in several formats — print, online broadcasting, and YouTube.

STUDIO 7

Studio 7 is a creative space in the center of Alanya where children and adults can engage in drawing, ceramics, music, ballet, dance, and modeling, as well as participate in creative master classes.

The studio has an official license from the Ministry of Education of Turkey.

Its participation in the project emphasizes the importance of early development of creative potential and creating an environment where art becomes part of everyday life.

DIM MEDIA AND YENİ ALANYA

Among the information partners of the project are DIM Media and the Yeni Alanya newspaper.

The chief coordinator of the project on the media side is Meryem Karbenoğlu.

MEDICINE AND WELLNESS

A separate area of partnership is related to health and well-being.

The partner of the project is Dr. Recep Çelik Clinic in Alanya.

The clinic focuses on a comprehensive approach to health, diagnostics, and the individual characteristics of each patient, combining modern Western medical technologies with certain principles of Eastern medicine.

This approach organically continues the philosophy of Fashion Week: aesthetics is not only an external image but also the overall state of a person.

EMİNE SULTAN — OFFICIAL SPONSOR

In addition to participating in the fashion program, Emine Sultan acts as the official sponsor of Fashion Week Alanya.

Nearly 40 years of experience accumulated in different regions of Turkey today continues to work for the development of Alanya's fashion culture.

For the project organizers, supporting local business and professionals is of particular importance: it is precisely such partnerships that allow creating a sustainable creative environment in which international initiatives can develop together with the local community.

PROJECT ORGANIZERS

MERUYERT SHAMAR — FOUNDER AND PRODUCER

Meruyert Shamar is the founder and producer of Fashion Week Alanya "Four Elements," an entrepreneur, fashion designer, member of the Eurasian Union of Designers, holder of the honorary title "Honorary Designer," and academician of the National Academy of Design of Kazakhstan.

Her professional activity is based on the conviction that creativity, aesthetics, and cultural heritage can become tools for development and create a space for dialogue between people and cultures.

It is this idea that underlies Alanya Fashion Week "Four Elements" — a project uniting fashion, art, entrepreneurship, tourism, and international professional cooperation.

For Meruyert Shamar, Fashion Week is not just a runway and a demonstration of collections. It is an opportunity to create an environment in which designers, models, artists, business representatives, and creative industries can meet, exchange experience, and turn cultural diversity into new creative projects.

MARIA ATASEVEN — EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Maria Ataseven is the executive director of Alanya Fashion Week, a tourism industry professional with 12 years of experience, and the head of a travel agency.

Over the years of her professional activity, Maria has visited dozens of countries and participated in organizing numerous corporate events and international occasions.

Her experience in tourism becomes an important part of the Fashion Week concept. After all, tourism and fashion largely work with the same idea — creating memorable impressions and connecting people from different cultures.

Within Alanya Fashion Week, this approach reaches a new level: Alanya becomes not only the venue of the event but also a space of international cultural and professional interaction.

The combination of Meruyert Shamar's experience in fashion, design, and entrepreneurship and Maria Ataseven's professional expertise in tourism and event organization forms the foundation of the team behind Fashion Week Alanya "Four Elements" 2026

PROJECT GOALS

Alanya Fashion Week sets several key objectives:

  • contributing to the development of the fashion industry in Alanya;

  • supporting local designers and creative entrepreneurs;

  • attracting international brands, designers, and buyers to the region;

  • strengthening the cultural and creative image of the city;

  • creating a sustainable professional platform for the development of the region's fashion industry;

  • forming new opportunities for international cooperation;

  • uniting fashion, art, tourism, culture, and business.

In the long term, the project strives to contribute to the emergence of Alanya's own sustainable fashion ecosystem, capable of uniting local talents and the international professional community.

FOUR ELEMENTS. ONE CITY.

In the concept of Alanya Fashion Week, the four elements become a metaphor for the city itself.

Air is Alanya's horizon.
Fire is its sun.
Water is its coast.
Earth is the place on which life is built.

But the true fifth component of the project is people.

Designers create collections. Models turn them into movement. Makeup artists and stylists form the visual language. Directors create the space of the show. Artists expand the boundaries of the project. Media tell these stories, and partners and sponsors help them go beyond the runway.

That is why Alanya Fashion Week "Four Elements" 2026 is not just a fashion event.

It is an attempt to form a new creative ecosystem in Alanya, where fashion meets art, tourism, culture, business, and international cooperation.

Alanya here acts not only as the venue of the event but also as its main source of inspiration.

Four elements unite at one point — on the shore of the Mediterranean.

Four Elements, One City, and a Fashion Week of Its Own

What happens when a city that was never considered a traditional fashion capital decides to create its own Fashion Week? Apparently, you just start writing the plan in the middle of a fashion show.

That is more or less how the story of Alanya Fashion Week began.

For years, the co-founder and producer of the project, Meruyert Shamar, had already been organizing fashion shows, fashion and art festivals and other events in Alanya. She had experience in the industry and had even visited and was one of the organizers of Istanbul Fashion Connection (IFCO). Still, the idea of creating an actual Fashion Week felt different.

People kept asking her the same question: Why don't you make a Fashion Week in Alanya?

The answer, at first, was basically: Can I even do that?

There were questions about permissions, legal requirements and whether organizing a Fashion Week required some kind of secret formula that only the established fashion capitals knew.

Then the director of Azerbaijan Fashion Week gave Meruyert a surprisingly simple answer: yes, it could be done. Legally and organizationally, the process could be approached in much the same way as organizing a festival.

And suddenly, the idea stopped being a “maybe someday” and became a project.

Meruyert remembers writing the first plan during one of the shows she was already organizing. Then came the logo, posters and Instagram account. The idea started becoming something people could actually see.

But very quickly, one thing became obvious: one person cannot build a Fashion Week alone.

The first team eventually fell apart. A new one formed.

Two people, one idea

Maria Ataseven and Meruyert Shamar met at modeling workshop. Maria also had runway experience from Yekaterinburg, as well as connections within the fashion industry. Over time, it became clear that she could bring something different to the project: another perspective, another set of contacts and another kind of experience.

According to Meruyert, Alanya had been asking for a Fashion Week for a while — but previous attempts had not really worked. So Meruyert and Maria decided to stop asking whether someone else would make it happen.

They would make it themselves. They combined their experience, knowledge and connections and launched Alanya Fashion Week together.

And perhaps that is one of the most interesting things about the project: it was not born from some giant fashion corporation or an already established fashion institution. It started with two people deciding that Alanya could have its own place on the fashion map.

So… why Alanya?

Because Alanya is not exactly known for having one single identity.

The city is international, multicultural and constantly changing. People from different countries live, work and spend their summers here. Different languages, cultures, aesthetics and traditions exist side by side. For organizers, that diversity is not something the Fashion Week needs to overcome.

It is the point.

Meruyert herself describes her taste as eclectic — she likes the combination of different styles rather than staying inside one perfectly defined aesthetic. That philosophy eventually became part of the Fashion Week's central concept:

Four Elements.

Water. Earth. Fire. Air.

The elements are not meant to tell designers exactly what their collections should look like. Quite the opposite. They are a starting point. A designer can interpret fire through color, movement or emotion. Someone else might see water as fluid silhouettes. Another designer might take inspiration from earth, history or traditional clothing.

There is room for all of it. And that freedom makes sense in Alanya. Fashion capitals often develop very specific visual identities. Alanya, however, can put minimalism next to maximalism, contemporary design next to ethnic references, and historical inspiration next to something completely experimental.

It does not have to choose one.

Why should fashion?

Not just another pretty runway

Alanya Fashion Week aims for something much more ambitious and practical.

The goal is to build an event that continues after the runway ends—genuinely helping careers where designers meet buyers, models find agents, and participants connect with collaborators. Collections get a real chance to reach actual customers, rather than just appearing for a single show and disappearing.
A key part of this vision involves emerging designers.

By connecting the event with education, students get opportunities to participate in shows and present collections as graduation projects.

Sometimes the biggest obstacle for a young designer is simply having nowhere to start. Alanya Fashion Week wants to be that first step.

Who says fashion has an age limit?

One of the more unexpected parts of the project was its approach to models.

Initially, Meruyert was not completely sure about the idea of including older models. She was concerned about the overall visual image and how the fashion industry might react. Then the casting happened. And the result changed her mind. Partly because Maria insisted at this point. The show included striking, experienced women of different ages, and the audience responded positively — particularly older women who saw people like themselves represented on the runway.

It sent a pretty simple message:

you do not stop being fashionable because you get older.

And you do not have to fit into one specific size, age or type to belong on a runway.

The experience was convincing enough to make age-diverse casting something she wants to continue developing in future editions.

It was not just an idea on paper anymore. And it worked.

From the boutique to the runway

For Shamar, design has been part of her creative life for years, alongside her work as an entrepreneur, boutique owner and event organizer in Alanya.

The idea for this particular collection came with a sense of looking back. In 2004, Meruyert created a collection called “Singing Dunes.” Years later, she considered bringing the collection back for its 20th anniversary, but eventually decided not to recreate it. Instead, she carried some of its ideas forward — especially its connection to nature — and allowed them to evolve into something new, inspired by the landscapes of Alanya.

The collection might not have happened at all without Maria Ataseven, the Fashion Week’s co-organizer. Maria encouraged Meruyert to participate not only as one of the people behind the event, but as a designer presenting her own work. Her encouragement became an important push for Meruyert to turn those long-standing ideas into a new collection.

And Alanya itself became one of its main sources of inspiration. Presented on a pier surrounded by the sea and open air, the collection drew from the textures and movement of sand, water and wind. Rather than recreating “Singing Dunes,” Meruyert reinterpreted its spirit through lighter, more fluid silhouettes — designs that seemed to move with the landscape around them.

What comes next?

Alanya Fashion Week is still young. There is no decades-long history behind it. No Parisian legacy. No Milanese fashion district. But maybe that is exactly what makes the project interesting.

It is being built from scratch. Meruyert Shamar and Maria Ataseven are not simply trying to reproduce another city's Fashion Week in a different location. They are trying to figure out what a Fashion Week can look like in Alanya.

One that reflects the city's international character. One that gives young designers a chance. One where models do not have to fit into a single definition of age or beauty. One where a runway can lead to an actual professional connection.

And one where a designer can show a collection inspired by earth, water, fire or air — without being told there is only one correct way to interpret it.

Maybe Alanya does not need to become the next Paris.

Maybe it just needs to be Alanya.

And if Meruyert's original fashion-show notes can turn into a Fashion Week, there is probably a lot more waiting to be written.
